The Internet is the new way teachers prepare for class and interact with students. The Internet is a vast resource of information on all aspects of education and also serves as the primary method of communicating, collaborating and sharing. The Internet can be a very effective tool when used properly, but it is also a very dangerous and destructive tool when used improperly. Unfortunately for students, many internet based services are dedicated to the attainment of grades or a specific educational outcome. Schools and colleges are now using the Internet to create a fake version of themselves which is not all that authentic. When parents, students, and guardians look for school information the Internet is more desirable than the real school. This is a very dangerous situation for students to be in. They become glued to the school information they find on the Internet instead of the teacher-student interaction that should be a part of school. The lack of authentic face-to-face interaction makes it seem as though they are getting a terrible education. Colleges, schools, and teaching organizations are losing the face-to-face interaction and all of the benefits that come with it.
Educators and schools need to be very careful with how they use the Internet to prepare for class, grade papers, interact with students, and respond to questions. Students need to be in school for face-to-face interaction with their teachers and classmates. When students are put in the situation where they are glued to the school information they find on the Internet, they feel as though they are missing out on the purpose of school. This can be very detrimental to their education and training. Teachers and schools need to remember that the students in their lives are different from students on the internet. They are not robots or computers, students are the reason we come to school. Educators and schools need to remember that the students in their lives are part of the
